FAQs

  • Are all fish oils the same?

  • Standard omega-3 fish oils are most often presented as 30% EPA/DHA concentrates. High-concentrate fish oils (often called pharmaceutical grade) are typically 65%, but are also chemically altered into ethyl-esters. Several studies indicate that this ethyl-ester form is not as well utilized by the body as the natural triglyceride form. The cost of pharmaceutical grade concentrations can easily be 10 times more than the natural one, but the taste is often better. The highest concentrated fish oil on the market, only available by prescription (Omacor capsules), costs $ 170/month at 4g/day. The ratio of EPA to DHA can vary from oil to oil. No solid documentation exists on the optimal division between the two. Anne-Marie: Where does Omega Cure fit in with all this?
